Dawn Michelle's Story
Hello,
Since High School, I have been very busy. I got married in 1993, and have been since then.....15 years!!! We moved to North Dakota in 1994 (military), and I had 2 beautiful children while we were there. Drew, my son, in 1995, and Sydney, my daughter, in 1996. In 1997, we moved to Italy for a year and a half. In 1998, we moved to Oklahoma. My husband and I finally finished college while we were there. We lived there 5 years, then in summer 2003, moved to Georgia. Georgia was not good to us..... Kevin had to go to Iraq for a while, and while he was gone, our beautiful 7 year old daughter was diagnosed with stage 4 Neuroblastoma cancer. It was totally devastating for our family. lp us get through the rigorous cancer treatment our daughter was facing. To make a longer story shorter, Sydney fought like a true warrior, and after many years of chemotherapy, surgeries, radiation therapy, antibody therapy, 2 relapses of the cancer, blood transfusions, etc, etc, she is still alive!! She still has cancer, but it is minimal, and she is doing fabulous. Summer 2008, we moved to Charlotte, NC, which is where we are now. We love it here, and plan to settle here until the kids finish school - they are in 7th grade now. Gosh, I feel soooo old. But if you are reading this, and knew me back then, you are old too!!!!
